Parish Liaison

Purpose:

Parish Liaisons extend the reach of services and educational opportunities to their parishes and communities through the ministries of Catholic Charities. The parish liaisons will serve as an integral connection between Catholic Charities and the Catholic communities where they reside.

Duties and Responsibilities - average time commitment - less than 2 hours per month:

• Serve your parish by providing access to and knowledge of Catholic Charities' resources. Learn and share information about Catholic Charities programs.
• Assist with identification of prospective volunteers and donors to support.
• Be informed about Catholic Charities' projects and services at the Oklahoma City, Ardmore, Enid, and Lawton offices, and the Women's Sanctuary in Oklahoma City and Norman.
• Inform priests and parishioners of Catholic Charities' accomplishments and how donations are being used.

Accomplishments are shared by the Parish Engagement staff via monthly email correspondence. This information can be distributed through bulletin announcements, announcements before or after Mass, parish council minutes, sharing on social media, web pages, and parishioner emails.

• With pastor approval, invite Catholic Charities program staff to speak to your parish groups and parishioners.
• Have monthly contact with Parish Engagement through meetings, phones calls, and/or emails.
• With pastor approval, make announcements during Mass about up-to-date events and services at Catholic Charities; especially how parishioners' support makes a difference in the community. This liaison would volunteer to speak, or recruit speakers for Catholic Charities Annual Appeal, which is on the second weekend of every September.
• Strengthen the relationship between the parishioners and Catholic Charities ministries.
