A: Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City is the only refugee resettlement agency in the state of Oklahoma. We work with Catholic Charities of Eastern Oklahoma to provide services to the entire state.
Many refugees come here with little more than they can carry so we have a lot of opportunities to help. We first begin by providing them temporary housing. From there we assess what steps need to be taken to gain sustainable employment and permanent housing.
A: Catholic Charities has state contracts to provide refugee resettlement services through several programs including Refugee Social Services, Refugee Cash Assistance and Reception and Placement services. Some Afghan arrivals will not fully qualify for the government aid therefore costs associated with providing services will fall on Catholic Charities budget funded by private donations.
A: Yes! We are fortunate to have a welcoming and helpful community here but many hands make light work. The first thing you can do is reach out to [email protected] and tell us if you're interested in volunteering. We will follow up with you as soon as possible with a quick questionnaire about when you're available and what skills you have. Additionally, we can always use direct assistance and you can give a gift here.
A: Please click here to visit the government's site on Operation Allies Welcome for information on the process for vetting Afghan arrivals.
A: Catholic Charities of Eastern Oklahoma, The Spero Project, and CAIR are our primary partners in this endeavor, though a number of other organizations are offering indirect assistance.
