This type of giving is for donors who have generously provided, or plan to provide, gifts to Catholic Charities through a bequest, estate gifts or trust. Beneficiary Designation
A beneficiary designation gift is a simple and affordable way to make a gift in support of Catholic Charities and all its social services featuring retirement, investment or bank account or life insurance policies; most allowing you to assign a percentage of your resources. While many want to provide for family, a relatively small percentage may be assigned to Catholic Charities without significantly effecting famlly support, for example: First child 40%, second child 40%, and Catholic Charities 20%.Gift Language“I give to Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City, a nonprofit corporation currently located at 1232 N Classen Blvd. Oklahoma City, OK 73106 FEIN: 73-0636561, or its successor thereto, _________ [written amount or percentage of the estate or description of property]. This gift should be used for _______ [i.e. general operations] if and so long as Catholic Charities determines that the need exists. If Catholic Charities determines at the outset or at a later time that the need does not exist, or no longer exists, or for some reason it is not possible (or prudent) to administer my gift as originally intended, then Catholic Charities may, in its sole and uncontrolled discretion, direct the use of my bequest for a purpose related as closely as possible to that stated above.”
Gift of a Will or trust
A gift of cash or property made through a will or revocable trust. This is the most common type of planned gift. Donors find that being strategic with these assets can make a big difference.
Gifts that give back to the donor
A Charitable Gift Annuity or Trust is a transfer of cash or other assets in exchange for income for yourself and/or a loved one as well as a philanthropic gift upon passing.
IRA Opportunities
Gifts through Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs) or more complicated IRA distributions may make an ideal planned gift.
Additionally
Other options may be available to meet your specific needs. Planned gifts can offer a variety of benefits to donors, including tax advantages, the ability to establish a legacy, program society benefits, and gifts with retirement assets. Some of the vehicles may include charitable endowments, donor advised funds, amongst others. Please reach out to your financial advisor or attorney for advice. Giving options include, but are not limited to:
Gifts from Wills & Trusts / Beneficiary Designation - A bequest is the simplest type of planned gift to make and one of the easiest to implement.
Gift Annuity - In exchange for a gift of cash or property, the charity agrees to make fixed payments for life.
Charitable Remainder Trust - A trust that receives cash or property from the donor, makes payments for the donor's lifeteme or a specified term of years, then distributes the remainder to charity or multiple beneficiaries.
Charitable Lead Trust - A truest that receives cash or assets from a donor and makes payments to charity for a specified period, then distributes the trust assets back to the donor or to a designated beneficiary.
