Fundraising Toolkit
Thank you for joining Catholic Charities for Green Tie Gatherings by creating a personal fundraising page through Classy. With your help, we will raise awareness of the needs of the women who utilize Sanctuary Women’s Development Centers. When you start an individual fundraiser through Classy, you will get your own shareable fundraising page. Set a goal, track your progress, and share with friends! Together we can make a BIG impact.
THINK ABOUT YOUR “WHY”
The most important thing you can add to our message is your “WHY”. Let your others know why supporting Sanctuary Women’s Development Centers matters to you. Do you have a personal story or experience? Did a certain statistic about homelessness resonate with you? Do you just love a friendly competition for a good cause? You can share your “WHY” on your personal fundraising page, when you email your personal page link, and in social media posts.
SET A MEANINGFUL GOAL
Think about the possibilities and pick a goal you are confident with. Share how these funds will help support the staff and clients at Sanctuary. Provide updates on your progress! Your network wants to see you succeed. Sharing when you hit milestones will motivate your supporters.
BE THE FIRST DONOR
It’s always a good idea to get your fundraising off to a good start by making the first contribution. This will make others more likely to get involved and demonstrates your commitment to the cause.
REACH OUT DIRECTLY
Try sending some quick personal messages to your inner circle to build up momentum. Your friends and family are the ones most likely to support you, spread the word, and donate to your campaign.
USE SOCIAL MEDIA
Create an initial post sharing that you are fundraising to support the women and children Sanctuary serves. Ask your network to kickstart your efforts with a donation. You can use photos, graphics, or video. Posts can be about how much you’ve raised, tagging and thanking those that have donated, etc.
IT’S EASY TO GIVE
With the link to your fundraiser page it is easy for someone to make a donation. You should include this in emails and social media posts. You can even text the link! The process is quick and simple.
THANK YOUR DONORS
Thank each donor within a day or two of their gift. Again, make it positive and personal. Your thanks is their first reward for giving their time and money to support your fundraiser.
Below are some sample posts you can use to help get things going!

Dear [INSERT POTENTIAL DONOR NAME HERE],
Every day, women and children in our community are forced to navigate the hardships of not having a permanent home. I’ve made a commitment to empower these women and their families into a safe place called home.
I’m raising money for Catholic Charities’ Green Tie Gatherings supporting Sanctuary Women’s Development Centers. This effort is to make sure that every single woman, no matter their circumstances, has the support to become independent and successful members of our community.
Your gift, of any size, towards my fundraiser will get me closer to my goal. I hope you’ll join me today. Donating is easy using my personal page: [INSERT YOUR LINK]
