Thursday, June 13, 2024 beginning at 3:30 p.m. 425 E Tonhawa St. Norman, OK 73071
Catholic Charities Sanctuary Women’s Development Center in Norman will celebrate its 10th anniversary this Thursday from 3:30-4:30 p.m.
As a daytime shelter, the Women’s Sanctuary offers resources and support for women and children experiencing homelessness. In its 10 years of operation, the Sanctuary has served 3,141 adults and 2,224 children, housing a total of 565 families.
Sheila McPherson, director of the Norman Sanctuary, said she is excited about the 10th Anniversary Celebration.
“We will be able to show our community partners and donors how well we are doing in Norman. Every month we always have at least one family move into housing from being unhoused,” McPherson said.
With eight years of experience at the Norman Sanctuary, McPherson has seen the shelter’s program grow to be a strong support system for families in the community. The program provides social services to women and children in need, including resource referral and assistance accessing services like vocational and employment development, and life skills classes.
All are welcome to attend and celebrate the Sanctuary’s decade of service. Light refreshments will be served at the event.
